Yesterday I spotted an egret perched high atop a conifer while on a walk near Fern Ridge Reservoir, just outside of Eugene, Oregon. Usually I find these birds wading in marshy waters, or along river banks, so I was quite surprised to find this one perched so precariously. I found it interesting how the gray Oregon sky made this photo appear black and white, though it is actually unedited and taken in full color.
