Last year my husband arrived home from work with two overflowing, heavy-duty trash bags for me. How romantic, right? I mean, what woman doesn’t dream of her husband arriving home with brimming black garbage bags to gift her? I’m sure my expression was one of confusion as I looked at the bags…until he gave me his delightful news. With a smile on his face, Todd told me that the owner of the house he’d been working on (he’s a general contractor) had given him multitudes of iris starts to bring home to me.

The iris is my favorite flower, the purple variations the ones I most admire.

Trash bags full of treasure.

The first bloom of the season has me waiting in great anticipation for the rest of them to bloom. Absolutely stunning, the details and the beauty of the flowers are nothing short of captivating.
